Multitasking and women drivers!

The theory of Multitasking & Women Drivers

As we know we ladies have the innate ability to impress and amaze others with our ability to juggle several tasks at work, home and with our families in such a way that we seem to be achieving miraculous levels of productivity. How are we able to achieve this? That remains a mystery. There is a downside to this desirable quality. Loss of FOCUS.

I had a friend who used to reapply lipstick every time she drove into a roundabout. When I questioned her about it she said that it was the only opportunity she had to do it… This is not an opportunity for multitasking girls – THIS IS A HAZARD!

The fact is, as miraculous as our powers of multiple productivity may be there is one place where we should keep this to a minimum and this is in the driving seat of a car! As a new driver I myself have seen how my tendancy to multitask is affecting my driving. When I focus on just the driving I am a great driver – I'm sure I wouldn't get any 'woman driver' comments. However, if I allow myself to multitask at the wheel of my ex-mother-in-laws Vauxhall Corsa I become the epitome of the sterotype! We ourselves have propagated these accusations.

I hope that as time passes and my experience grows I will to some degree regain my ability to multitask while driving, however until then I need to focus on something far more important. Looking FABULOUS while I do it!

Channelling Sandra B

Sea Stone Bracelet Set
$13 - canada.forever21.com

Sister Madina must have known I had my work cut out for me when she asked for a Sandra Bullock look! I've picked two of my favourites, that I felt were most transferrable to the hijabi. I dont need to add scarf for you here, the purple look could use a bit of gold in it tho, dont overdo the purple lol! the casual look will work perfectly with one of Amena's white linen thin scarves under the trilby. If you want to know how this look would work I will demonstrate it for you in a future post. I've used harem jeans in the casual look to give us the looseness we require without losing our urban edge. I adore these long t-shirts, I definitely don't have enough in my life... the waterfall cardi is to die for, but I also couldnt resist including a cropped jacket option also. Yellow sandals to give bite, heeled or unheeled according to preference! altho for me I would choose a very low wedge heel for rushing about town with my son at the weekend. Love that little guy!

Take it ladies, make it yours! (And don't forget the Paparazzi defending shades...)

Salaams.

Channelling Marilyn

Anna Sui - Loose Powder #700
$48 - yesstyle.com

The looks I have chosen really express the muse-like quality of Marilyn Monroe rather than the vamp. In the first look the wrap dress is really her all over. Had it been a maxi-dress it would have been perfect but being knee length I have chosen some print narrow trousers to go underneath without dulling down the shape of the dress. However, you may prefer wider leg trousers, or alternatively, a maxi dress if you can find one! This look would also work with a sleeveless dress and cardigan. If the waist is too much emphasised here for you, you would need to cover up with a mac outside the house/private party and save this for a special occasion like a date with Hubby!

The second look is less urban and more formalized. The high waisted trousers were huge during that period in fashion history and have made a welcome come back in the last 3 years. however, they are pretty tailored so to enjoy wearing them discreetly and to make the Juno-esque orange bolero more covering, wear an animal print tunic with the sleeves frilling out from inside the bolero. Waist belt optional, according to your feelings on the matter. These 1950s style peep-toe heels are all about Marilyn's glamour.

Are there any style icons you would like me to channel for you?
